CDSA Explores Challenges and Opportunities of Blockchain at NAB 2024 Member Day
The Content Delivery & Security Association (CDSA) recently delved into the world of blockchain at their Member Day event during NAB 2024 in Las Vegas. The event, held on April 14, saw CDSA President Richard Atkinson discussing the plans and potential of blockchain within the organization.
Atkinson mentioned that the specifics of CDSA’s plans regarding blockchain are still being developed, but there is a strong belief in the need for a working group dedicated to exploring the technology. Seth Shapiro, co-chair of the CDSA’s Blockchain Working Group, emphasized the importance of blockchain technology, noting its origins in delivering bitcoin.
While blockchain has often been associated with NFTs and other trends, Atkinson and Shapiro highlighted its disruptive potential. Shapiro likened blockchain to the continuation of trends that began with the cloud and streaming technology, suggesting that it could open up new doors for innovation in the industry.
At a separate session during the Content Protection Summit (CPS) @ NAB 2024, Atkinson discussed the role of working groups in shaping the culture and membership of CDSA. He emphasized the importance of collaboration and innovation within these groups, highlighting their contributions to solving industry challenges.
Overall, the exploration of blockchain at the CDSA Member Day event showcased the organization’s commitment to staying at the forefront of technological advancements and fostering collaboration within the industry. As blockchain continues to evolve, CDSA remains poised to leverage its potential for the benefit of its members and the broader community.
