Zilliqa Network Restored After Block Generation Issues: Updates and Reactions

Zilliqa Developers Restore Network Functionality After Block Generation Issues

Zilliqa developers have successfully restored network functionality after facing problems with block generation. The team announced that the network is now back online and processing transactions normally after experiencing temporary disruptions.

The team is currently monitoring the network’s stability and working to diagnose the root cause of the recent outages. Despite the restoration of functionality, Zilliqa’s native token, ZIL, reacted by falling 1.8% in the last 24 hours according to CoinMarketCap data.

Following the news of the network’s resumption, token trading has increased sharply by 7%, exceeding $15 million in the last 24 hours. This surge in trading activity suggests that traders may be looking to sell assets following the technical issues.

The network initially slowed down block generation on May 8, leading to a temporary halt in transaction processing. After 30 minutes, the protocol cleared the mempool and resumed regular operation. However, developers continued to investigate the cause of the incident and admitted that network problems persisted the following day.

Technical specialists created internal testnets to identify and fix bugs, releasing a necessary software update alongside the scheduled v9.3.4 update to restore the blockchain. Despite efforts to address the issues, developers acknowledged on May 9 that the leading causes of network shutdowns had not been completely eliminated.

Zilliqa reassured users that their funds were safe and accessible through the blockchain explorer. This incident marks a similar occurrence to past challenges faced by the network, including block processing disruptions in December 2023 and a protocol restart in July 2022 due to smart contract glitches.

As Zilliqa continues to address network stability issues, users and investors are advised to stay updated on developments and exercise caution when trading ZIL tokens.
