Former NFL Star Rob Gronkowski Settles Investor Suit for $1.9 Million

Former NFL star Rob Gronkowski has agreed to pay $1.9 million to settle a lawsuit with Voyager Digital investors, according to court documents. Gronkowski, who is a multiple Super Bowl winner, had signed on to be a brand ambassador, shareholder, and holder of the Voyager’s VGX token in 2021. However, the crypto lender filed for bankruptcy the following year.

The settlement requires all defendants to collectively provide $2,425,000 in monetary relief, with Gronkowski contributing $1.9 million if the proposed settlement is accepted by the court. Other defendants listed in the lawsuit include NBA player Victor Oladipo and racecar driver Landon Cassill.

The main defendant in the class action lawsuit is Dallas Mavericks minority owner Mark Cuban, who was scheduled to be deposed in February for allegedly promoting Voyager Digital. Interestingly, Gronkowski’s former teammate, quarterback Tom Brady, was also named in a class action lawsuit at the end of 2022 for promoting the now-bankrupt FTX.

This legal battle involving prominent sports figures and cryptocurrency companies highlights the complexities and risks associated with the crypto industry. Stay tuned for more updates on this developing story.
